for painful viewing, i still highly recommend searching for humor (or was it comedy? can't remember, they certainly didn't look very hard) in the muslim middle east... in fact, you may have to premedicate with some analgesics just to survive the viewing.

thanks for the reviews. Sharon is right about 'searching for comedy in the muslim world.' It was a total disaster. The Muslim world - in India? And the protagonist's narcissistic stupidity is only matched by the total unfunniness of the dialogue, plot and situations.

BTW I disliked "East is East." I found it very stereotypical: boorish uncivilized immigrant keeps half-English children from becoming good English Christian people, while good White Christian wife tries to bring order to home. It screamed assimilation.
